The digital age. What an overwhelmingly magical time we currently find ourselves in. There has never been more opportunity in the world today than at any other time in history. With a swipe of a finger or a click of a button, we are able to tap into a pool of humanity's collective knowledge. On-demand. For free.
We are able to connect with people from around the world. Join online forums. Ask questions. Form friendships from afar. Work with someone from the other side of the planet on a personal project through the power of the internet.
Could this be magic? I don't know... So I Googled it. And this came up:
Magic - the power of apparently influencing events by using mysterious or supernatural forces.
I suppose it comes down to perspective but for me at least, having pixels arrange themselves on a blank screen with the specific answer to my question does seem pretty darn magical!
Though it does get one thinking... are we as a society prepared mentally to handle such power in our pockets? Could the digital magic we are now immersed in be leading us collectively to madness?
Anyway, we are getting sidetracked... Welcome to Inner Compass Academy!
Our mission here is to help you break free from all the juicy attention-grabbing distractions out there in the world and refocus on what really matters to you in your life. And once you have clarified what you want and set an intention to pursue it, we provide you with the tools and knowledge as to how you can gradually and systematically create it.
So, if life has lost its spark and you happen to find yourself in a rut, we guide you through the process of rediscovering the infinite potential you have to create positive changes in your life. We call it life design for a simple reason. When you have the mindset of a designer you cannot be stuck. There is always an alternate solution. All one needs is a change in perspective.
Change is a topic which we will be covering a lot. Here we are both interested in internal and external change, fore one leads to the other. And when it comes to creating change a holy trinity exists.
Once you have all three in alignment, then bingo! Life will begin to flow and resistance will fall away. Sounds magical, right?
Don't be fooled by its deceptive simplicity. Many people get stumped at identifying what they actually value (i.e. really want). This is something us as humans aren't very good at.
A house. Yes... that's what I want, a house.
Wrong! You don't actually want a house, you want security. There is an underlying need driving the surface level wants if you introspect and go looking for it. So be careful about what you wish for and instead go searching for the underlying need sitting below the surface.
Second, set your intention to pursue what you want.
OK - so to get a house, I need more money. Maybe I could do an online course to enter into a higher-paying field. Or perhaps start a side business. Yes, I'll do that... Ding! Ooooh, mum sent me a video of dogs dressed as superheroes...
Five hours later, you close YouTube and realise you've forgotten entirely about what you had planned and are now hangrily going through your cupboards in search of food. And to make matters worse, your pet goldfish Ricardo is mocking you from over by the kitchen counter for having such a short attention span. Oh, the shame!
Finally, consistent attention. The art of applying your attention to achieving a particular result again and again (and again) to gradually achieve the change you intended. Here motivation plays a huge role.
On the best of days motivating myself to get through the day can be a struggle. And on the worst of days, I am reminded of the fact I am on a rock hurtling through the vacuum of space at 67,000mph, home to an evolved species of apes (called humans) set on destroying their natural habit.
I digress. The point is, maintaining motivation when making big life changes is hard. In today's age of instant gratification and unlimited sources of distraction, this is no small task. But there is help if you should need it.
Inner Compass is an academy specialising in architecting change within people's lives. We specialise in helping people navigate change. In fact, hundreds of hours of research and development have gone into creating our Life Design Platform - the Life Compass.
We used principles from philosophy (the study of meaning), psychology (the study of the mind), epistemology (the study of knowledge), and system design (the art of connecting information) to create an intricately designed system within the relational note-taking tool Notion.
On our Create Your Compass course we teach you how to use this platform to find what you intrinsically want in life, focus your attention on what you want to create, and take action to consistently work towards your goals. Our philosophy is to do more by doing less. And we will teach you how to accomplish this using the Life Compass.
Sound interesting? If so, then consider signing up for one of our interactive three-week courses. Note, there are only 20 spaces per intake (to maintain a good student to teacher ratio) and spaces may fill up quickly.
To wrap up - change can be challenging, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Without challenge humans wilt - like limp spinach (and who wants to be like limp spinach). Change becomes overwhelming when we lack the necessary knowledge and tools to bring it about. So if ever you feel overwhelmed and in need of some help, you know where to find us.
